For many years the AWTA Melbourne laboratory has been open 24 hours a day, five days a week, requiring three shifts to staff the laboratory. From Monday, 6th April 2014 the AWTA Melbourne laboratory will permanently close its night shift operation, redeploying affected staff to other shifts. This will mean that the Melbourne laboratory will close at midnight and re-open at 6:30AM each morning.
