The monthly comparisons of Total Lots, Bales and Weight for April 2017 compared with the same period last season are:
-3.2%, -7.5% and -7.8% respectively. There were fewer working days in April 2017 than the same month last year due to Easter.
The Australian Wool Production Forecasting Committee forecasts that Australian shorn wool production in 2016/17 will reach 339 mkg greasy. This 4.3% increase from 2015/16 is largely the result of excellent seasonal conditions in many areas resulting in higher fleece weights.
The monthly comparisons of Total Lots, Bales and Weight for March 2017 compared with the same period last season are:
+16.4%, +14.2% and +14.2% respectively.
FAWO Announces New Industry Initiative
The Federation of Australian Wool Organisations Inc. (FAWO) has announced the launch of the Australian Wool Industry Medal to recognise men and women who have made an exceptional and sustained contribution to the Australian wool industry. The award was announced by the FAWO Chairman, Robert Ryan OAM, at the Sydney Royal Easter Show on 7 April 2017.
NCWSBA is calling for nominations for the 2017 NCWSBA Wool Broker Award. The Award is in its sixth successful year and recognises excellence in service to woolgrowers, auctioneering and/or innovation by an outstanding wool broker employee who is working for a NCWSBA member and has been in the wool broking industry for 10 years or less.
