Australian shorn wool production continues a steady increase

The latest Australian Wool Production Forecasting Committee’s forecast of shorn wool production for 2021/22 is 314 Mkg greasy, up 6.5% on 2020/21. Most key wool producing regions continue to enjoy favourable seasonal conditions which has boosted per head production.

COVID Impact on Service Time

Like all businesses and organisations across Australia, AWTA has recently suffered increased staff absenteeism due to the impact of COVID on our workforce. Although all our employees are vaccinated, we have staff who have been infected through community transmission or who have been required to isolate at home due to being a household contact.

Clients should be aware that, due to these staff restrictions, it may be taking longer for test results to issue than they may otherwise be accustomed to (while still within the published service time). We continue to do what we can to minimise any disruptions, including reallocating samples to our WA laboratory. We thank everyone for their patience and understanding.
