Seasonal conditions hold back wool production

The Australian Wool Production Forecasting Committee forecasts that Australian shorn wool production in 2017/18 will reach 338 mkg greasy. This is a 0.6% decline from the levels in 2016/17 and is largely the result of more difficult seasonal conditions in many of the major wool growing areas. This has resulted in lower fleece weights. It comes despite the strong wool market conditions which are encouraging producers to retain sheep.

2018 Australian Wool Industry Medal - Call for Nominations

The Federation of Australian Wool Organisations Inc. (FAWO) is calling for nominations for the 2018 Australian Wool Industry Medal.

The Australian Wool Industry Medal (AWIM) recognises men and women who have made an exceptional and sustained contribution to the Australian wool industry. The medal was first introduced in 2017 where 11 recipients from across Australia and representing all facets of the wool industry were recognized.
